NOTD: Butter London’s “Molly Coddled”

IMG_6206I received this polish as a gift from a friend, and I love it! It is the first Butter London polish that I have tried. The formula is thin, and I actually got full opacity with only one or two coats! WOW! The only thing that steers me away from purchasing another is the price tag ($15).

“Molly Coddled” is described as an opaque lavender orchid.  Click here if you are interested in more information.

Overall, I am enjoying this nail polish! 🙂

Have you tried any Butter London? What are your thoughts?

Blondie Reads: Attachments by Rainbow Rowell

attachments

Before I travelled to Asheville, NC this weekend to visit family I spontaneously bought Attachments for my Kindle. It was only $1.99!

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect with this book, but I thought hey, it’s only $1.99…why not?

I. LOVED. THIS. BOOK.
(it definitely deserves more love than it gets)

Here is the synopsis via Amazon:

“Hi, I’m the guy who reads your e-mail, and also, I love you . . . ”

From the award-winning author of Eleanor & Park, Fangirl, and Landline comes a hilarious and heartfelt novel about love in the workplace.

Beth Fremont and Jennifer Scribner-Snyder know that somebody is monitoring their work e-mail. (Everybody in the newsroom knows. It’s company policy.) But they can’t quite bring themselves to take it seriously. They go on sending each other endless and endlessly hilarious e-mails, discussing every aspect of their personal lives.

Meanwhile, Lincoln O’Neill can’t believe this is his job now- reading other people’s e-mail. When he applied to be “internet security officer,” he pictured himself building firewalls and crushing hackers- not writing up a report every time a sports reporter forwards a dirty joke.

When Lincoln comes across Beth’s and Jennifer’s messages, he knows he should turn them in. But he can’t help being entertained-and captivated-by their stories.

By the time Lincoln realizes he’s falling for Beth, it’s way too late to introduce himself.

What would he say . . . ?

Essentially, the book is about the common struggle of letting go or holding on to relationships. Lincoln struggles with moving on from an old relationship and growing in his relationship with his family… while Beth and Jennifer question their changing romantic relationships.

The structure of this book is what I loved most– you only ever learn about main characters Jennifer and Beth through their email dialog. On the contrary, we learn about Lincoln through “normal” chapter style narration.

The book is witty, funny, and romantic, and at some points, very relatable. The perfect summer read in my mind- I finished it in 3 days!

3 Things

I have always enjoyed Jason Mraz’s music, and recently he released a new album (“Yes”). I was intrigued when I learned of this, and I immediately went to YouTube to look into it. These songs are very relatable and my favorites have to be “Long Drive” and “3 Things”.

The song “3 Things” is about the 3 things he does when it feels like his life is falling apart. I asked myself, what would my 3 things be?

  1. Get comfy and relax- This is probably the first thing I do any time I am stressed (and have free time…this is the key). I change my clothes and lay on my bed. I can think about it (whatever “it” is)  or I can nap or I can listen to music or I can pray about it.
  2. Watch a YouTube video- Okay, to be honest, I would do this any day of the week. But there is something relaxing about watching a beauty video or a funny video on the internet. It really takes my mind off of whatever is bothering me!
  3. Think positively- This is the most important of the three. I try at all times to be as optimistic as possible, and to always look for the silver lining. If I focus on the negative too much, then my mood spirals downward real fast.

I hope this music lifted your mood today and that it inspired you to think about what your 3 Things are!

Happy weekend! 🙂

SYTYCD: My Top 20 Faves

Last week was the first official competition week of SYTYCD. I can’t wait for tomorrow’s episode!
Here are two of my favorite routines:
Teddy and Emily are such a great couple! I love the Ed Sheeran song they used for this routine (“Don’t”).
I LIVE for hip hop routines on this show. This one was not as good as it could have been, but it had potential.
I think Bridget will go far! She is such a beautiful dancer…she does need to loosen up a bit though.
Do you have any favorites as of this point? Let me know!

Spring Break: Charleston, SC

This past week was my university’s spring break. My boyfriend convinced me to go to Charleston with him to visit his mom. It was such a relaxing trip, filled with beautiful sights and GREAT food!
On Saturday, I visited Bulls Island.
On Sunday, I went downtown- ate brunch at Magnolias, walked through the market, and walked down King Street.
On Monday, we went to Isle of Palms and ate at a beach dive bar.
On Tuesday, the BF and I went to Boone Hall Plantation and then ate dinner at Husk.
There was hardly any time for a nap (one of my favorite past times)!

Here are some pictures that I was able to grab with my phone while we were out and about.

Hope you enjoyed your Spring Break as much as I did!

On the ferry to Bulls Island.

Yeah…we were about 6 feet away from this guy.

The Boneyard on Bulls Island.

Brunch at Magnolias.

Waiting for our carriage ride.
The houses here are gorgeous! Not to mention extremely expensive…
